Minimalist Websites
Daily Log
Woke up at 4:58am at the perfect place in my sleep cycle. This always sets such a bright tone for the day.
Easy crossword puzzle, instant confidence booster. Only did the cursory check-in with Disney Dreamlight Valley today, I feel excited to “get to work.” I’m still suffering a bit from being too excited about too many things, and not making any significant progress on any of them, so today I decided to grab my own notebook and put the Bullet Journal method back to work. I find whenever I get in one of these “too many open tabs and projects” modes, pen and paper can help get me focused.
It seems to be working, because it’s not even 9am as I’m tying this, and I’ve already I launched a website template I built last year, but am always too nervous to put out into the world because its style is so very different from all of the other big website template shops out there. Much like my own website (the one you’re on now), it’s deliberately minimalist—so much so that I rebranded it as such from Capsule to The Minimalist! Not only do I love the aesthetics of an intentionally simple website (they’re harder to design than you would think—because there are so few details, the details matter), but text-frocsnued websites also incredibly user-friendly for both the site owner and site visitors. I spend way more time on a website with a bunch of text links and content than I do one with animated buttons and giant banner images (also, they load faster and look equally good on mobile and desktop)
Here she is…
If you want to buy The Minimalist, that would be nice for me and for you.
I was all set for avocado toast this morning (I actually don’t really like avocado toast, but it’s like a super food or whatever, so …). Alas, the bread we just bought was moldy, which was obviously the universe telling me that it was a Send Husband Out for a Bagel day. Broad Nosh is just around the corner from us, and an excellent choice if you’re ever in the city and needing a proper New York bagel. Their Everything bagels are nice and salty. 🧂
Made this page.
Lunch: rice & beans. We use this rice, because that’s what Milu uses, and we love Milu. The rice is cooked in homemade chicken stock that Anth makes. He also makes the beans, so I don’t know what’s up with those except they taste like magic. Ginger, garlic, tomato, spices. That’s all I know.
Felt the itch to get out of the house and away from screens, so popped into Dalton’s for a bit.
Came home and had pasta aglio e olio for dinner. We don’t do pasta very often, and it tasted sooo good.
Watched Criminal Minds. Cried at A Certain Episode in season 5. IYKYK.
